The downloaded file is an ISO image file which you will then need to burn to DVD (which you can boot from) – see my article on how to burn an ISO image file to a blank DVD if you need help on how to do with it. The download files are very large – 2.5 to 4GB – so you will need a decent broadband connection. if you are unsure you will like it or whether W7 will work well on your computer.
However, these downloads already include SP1 (integrated into W7) and most subsequent updates so if you install/reinstall from them you will save all that updating time.Īlso, if your computer did not come with a proper W7 disk (perhaps you only got a manufacturer’s recovery disk or none at all) this is a chance to grab a full copy of W7 which would allow you to (re)install W7 from scratch (or repair it) if you ever need to.įinally, you could even use this to just install W7 as a trial for 30 days e.g. Why Is That So Useful?
